Business Model#

What the company does and how it earns its money; written AI-editorially, exclusively from the company's original reports, without any assessment of our own.

Siltronic AG is a manufacturer of hyperpure silicon wafers, supplying the global semiconductor industry. The company's core products are polished, epitaxial, and other processed wafers primarily in 300 mm and 200 mm diameters, which serve as the substrate on which integrated circuits are fabricated. End markets include smartphones, personal computers, automotive electronics, data centers, and artificial intelligence infrastructure. Revenue is generated through long-term supply agreements with major semiconductor manufacturers as well as shorter-term and spot-market contracts. Pricing and volumes are influenced by wafer diameter, supply-demand balances, and foreign exchange movements, as silicon wafers are predominantly priced in US dollars. Production is concentrated in Germany and Singapore, with the Singapore facility now contributing to 300 mm volume growth and improving fixed-cost absorption as capacity utilization increases.

Current Status#

Summary of the most recent reporting period: core figures, drivers and management statements; written editorially from the current original report, every figure backed by a source number.

Siltronic reported Q2 2026 revenue of 321.6 million; H1 2026 group sales totalled EUR 628.1 million, a decline of 6.9 percent year-over-year driven primarily by negative exchange rate effects and the absence of SD production sales 10. The first half recorded a net loss of EUR 130.0 million, compared with net income of EUR 18.8 million in H1 2025 10. Siltronic completed a capital increase in June 2026 and was readmitted to the MDAX 10. The company confirmed its FY2026 guidance and raised its sales expectations, now projecting a low to mid-single-digit percent decline below the prior year 10.
Management commentary on the FY2025 results (IR-Annual, 2026-03-10):
„Our share price was marked by increased volatility in 2025. At the same time, the slightly positive full-year performance of our stock shows that taking a long-term perspective pays off. The consistent implementation of our strategy, disciplined financial management, and our focus on structural growth drivers should also have a noticeable positive impact on our share price in the medium term.“ – Dr. Michael Heckmeier, Chief Executive Officer 8
„Our newly formulated vision highlights the essential role Siltronic plays in the digital world. Wafers are the foundation of the semiconductor industry. The chips manufactured from them are now found in nearly every area of life. They are used in smartphones, cars, servers, data centers, and medical applications. Our wafers enable modern life – they make Artificial Intelligence, Digitalization, and advanced technologies possible.“ – Dr. Michael Heckmeier, Chief Executive Officer 8 (translation – original on hover)

Guidance
For FY2026, the company guides Revenue to in the low to mid-single-digit percent range below the previous year's level (raised); CapEx to EUR 180 to 220 million (confirmed); EBITDA margin to 20 to 24 percent (confirmed). 10.
Profitability
Q2 2026 operating income was -51.9 million and net income was -63.2 million 10. H1 2026 EBITDA declined by EUR 30.1 million to EUR 134.5 million, with the EBITDA margin decreasing from 24.4 percent to 21.4 percent 10. Q1 2026 operating income was -52.4 million and net income was -66.8 million.
Leverage
Net debt at end of Q2 2026 stood at 1,007.4 million, with cash and cash equivalents of 332 million 10. Net debt moved lower compared with the FY2025 year-end level of 85.3 million, reflecting in part the capital increase proceeds received in June 2026. Ongoing capital expenditure requirements continue to represent a cash flow consideration, as noted in the company's risk disclosures 10.
Management view
Demand for 300 mm wafers remained robust in H1 2026, with production capacity loading continuing at a high level; Siltronic also secured improved sales prices outside existing long-term agreements in certain cases 10. The Singapore production facility contributed significantly to 300 mm volume growth, with improved fixed-cost absorption as capacity utilization increased 10. Artificial intelligence was identified as the key structural growth driver for the semiconductor industry, with particularly strong momentum in server and data center infrastructure 10.
Change
The H1 2026 revenue decline from EUR 674.8 million in H1 2025 was primarily attributable to negative EUR/USD exchange rate effects and the absence of SD production sales 10. Demand for 200 mm wafers was weak through H1 2026, with recovery signs emerging toward period-end; the company noted the impact on full-year 2026 sales and earnings is expected to remain limited 10. Limited memory chip capacity was being allocated preferentially toward AI applications, further weakening conditions in smartphone and PC end markets 10.
Risks (current)
EUR/USD exchange rate fluctuations reduced H1 2026 sales by approximately 7 percent 10, and Siltronic is dependent on polysilicon supply from Wacker Chemie AG, with rising prices potentially not fully passed through to customers 9. The IMF revised its global GDP growth forecast for 2026 downward to 3.1 percent from 3.4 percent, and geopolitical developments including the Middle East conflict present risks to the global economy with potential energy market disruption 10. Attacks on IT systems could disrupt business and production processes, with data loss representing an additional operational risk 8.
New this reporting period
In June 2026, Siltronic completed a capital increase, placing 3,000,000 new shares at EUR 91 per share for gross proceeds of EUR 273 million 10. The company was readmitted to the MDAX on June 22, 2026, while continuing its inclusion in the TecDAX 10. The Singapore production facility reached operational status during the period, representing the company's major recent capacity addition for 300 mm wafer manufacturing 10.

Balance Sheet & Cash Flow (€m)#

Point-in-time balance sheet items (e.g. cash, financial debt) and cash flow items (operating cash flow, investments/capex) per fiscal year, half-year and quarter. Balance sheet values are as of the period end, flow items cover the period. Derived values are marked and are calculated, for example, as: net debt = financial debt − cash; free cash flow = operating cash flow − capex; the click popover shows formula and inputs. All values are extracted automatically from the filings; errors are possible; please verify decision-relevant figures yourself by clicking through to the linked original.

Revenue by Type (as of 2026-Q2 · EURm · 13/17)#

Revenue split by segment or product type, exactly as the company itself reports it. The basis is stated next to each value (3, 6 or 12 months); segment totals can deviate from group revenue (reconciliation/consolidation items). If the company changes its segment structure, older structures are kept in the expandable part. Rows in grey are no longer reported separately by the company; they show the last available figures and are never extrapolated.

Reported KPIs (as disclosed) (456)#

Figures the company discloses itself in addition to the standard financials; order intake, recurring revenue, user or unit counts, adjusted measures. These “story KPIs” usually slip through standard databases; here they are collected as reported, with no calculation of our own. Important: the definition comes from the company itself and can differ from firm to firm; period and source are stated next to every value.

Company-specific KPIs verbatim from the filings (English, as disclosed; not normalised). Balance-sheet and boilerplate items filtered.

Guidance Tracking (latest per metric/period · 11/26)#

All management forecasts (guidance) and their later outcome. Types: fiscal-year targets as well as quarterly/half-year targets; per metric and period the most recent statement applies, older versions can be expanded. The status is checked automatically against the actuals reported later: open (period still running), met, beaten, missed. For ranges (“X to Y”) reaching the range counts. Logged neutrally, no estimate of our own, no assessment.

A condensed summary per reporting period as running text: what changed operationally, which drivers management names, how earnings and cash flow developed. Most recent period first, grouped by year; each text is written from the original report of that period, superscript numbers lead to the source.

FY2026

Siltronic's first half of fiscal 2026 saw group sales decline 6.9 percent year-over-year to EUR 628.1 million, with Q1 revenue of 306.5 million and Q2 revenue of 321.6 million, weighed by negative exchange rate effects and the absence of SD production sales 10. Operating losses totaled 52.4 million in Q1 and 51.9 million in Q2, as the EBITDA margin contracted from 24.4 percent to 21.4 percent 10. The half-year net result swung to a loss of EUR 130.0 million from net income of EUR 18.8 million in H1 2025, with Q1 net loss at 66.8 million and Q2 at 63.2 million 10. Siltronic executed a capital increase in June 2026, placing 3,000,000 new shares at EUR 91 per share for gross proceeds of EUR 273 million, with net debt standing at 1,007.4 million at end-Q2 10. Supported by continued robust 300 mm wafer demand and growing fixed-cost absorption at the Singapore facility, the company raised its FY2026 sales guidance to a low to mid-single-digit percent decline below the prior year 10.

FY2025

Siltronic AG reported full-year 2025 revenue of 1,346.7 million, a decline of 4.7% versus the prior year, driven by unfavorable product mix, pricing pressure outside long-term agreements, US dollar depreciation, and the cessation of small-diameter wafer production at Burghausen 8. The operating result was -26.4 million, turning negative compared to the prior year, as depreciation and amortization rose significantly following commencement of scheduled depreciation on the new 300 mm Singapore fab in August 2025 8. The full-year net result was a loss of 77.9 million versus a profit in 2024, with the EUR 101.8 million increase in scheduled depreciation being the primary driver 9. Capital expenditure decreased to 369.1 million and operating cash flow was 230.1 million, resulting in free cash flow of -139 million, an improvement compared to the prior year 8. The EBITDA margin stood at 23.5%, within the company's target corridor but below the 25.8% achieved in 2024, while Memory and Logic segments showed initial signs of demand recovery and the Power segment remained pressured by elevated customer inventory levels 8.

FY2024

Siltronic AG reported FY2024 revenue of 1,412.8 million, a decline of 6.7% 5 driven by ongoing demand weakness and high inventory levels at chip manufacturers, with sales falling from EUR 1,513.8 million in 2023 5. The EBITDA margin remained at 25.8% 5 despite volume shifts and Singapore facility ramp-up costs, while the operating result declined to 125.2 million from EUR 231.3 million in 2023 5. Net income fell to 67.2 million from EUR 201.3 million in the prior year due to higher depreciation and lower EBIT 5, with earnings per share at 2.10 compared to EUR 6.15 in 2023 5. The new 300mm wafer fab in Singapore began operations at the start of 2024 and entered customer qualifications, while Siltronic decided to cease production of polished and epitaxial wafers up to 150mm diameter at Burghausen by July 31, 2025 5. Net financial debt stood at 297 million at year-end, and a EUR 370 million promissory note loan was refinanced in September 2024 5.

FY2023

Siltronic reported a 16% decline in full-year 2023 sales to 1,513.8 million, as customers reduced inventory levels built up during prior supply chain disruptions 3. Operating income fell to 231.3 million and net income to 201.3 million, with diluted earnings per share of 6.15 3. The EBITDA margin stood at 28.7% 3, with pricing stability supported by long-term customer agreements. Capital expenditure of 1,198.8 million 3, directed primarily at expanding 300 mm production capacity in Singapore and Freiberg, resulted in a negative free cash flow of 710.9 million and a shift from net financial assets to net financial debt 3. Dr. Michael Heckmeier assumed the CEO role on May 6, 2023, and Claudia Schmitt became CFO on July 1, 2023 3.

Glossary#

  • Revenue: Revenue from contracts with customers, net of sales deductions, as the company itself reports it; not total output, gross revenue, GMV or order intake.

  • Net income: Net income attributable to the shareholders of the parent, after discontinued operations; not the result including minority interests, not comprehensive income.
  • EPS: Diluted earnings per share attributable to the shareholders of the parent; a printed figure always beats a calculated one, calculated values are marked.
