Fielmann Business Model
What Fielmann does and how the company earns its money, written AI-editorially from the original reports alone, without any assessment of our own. NadirAlpha methodology
Fielmann is a vertically integrated optical and hearing care retailer headquartered in Hamburg, Germany. The company designs, manufactures, and retails eyeglasses, contact lenses, and hearing aids through an owned store network spanning Germany and international markets including Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and the United States. Revenue is generated primarily at the point of sale across the company's retail locations, while vertically integrated manufacturing and centralized procurement support its characteristically high gross margins. Fieldmann entered the United States through the acquisitions of Shopko Optical and SVS Vision, extending its footprint beyond the European core. Fielmann's growth strategy centres on accelerated new store openings and selective bolt-on acquisitions in established and adjacent markets, as demonstrated by the H1 2026 acquisition of ten optical and hearing care businesses in Luxembourg and the FY2026 target of 70 new store openings, tripling the prior year's expansion pace.
