Business Model#

What the company does and how it earns its money; written AI-editorially, exclusively from the company's original reports, without any assessment of our own.

Allianz SE is one of the world's largest financial services groups, operating through three core segments: Property-Casualty insurance, Life/Health insurance, and Asset Management. Insurance premiums and policy fees constitute the primary recurring revenue streams in the insurance segments, with underwriting profitability measured through the combined ratio in Property-Casualty and new business margin metrics in Life/Health. The Asset Management segment, principally PIMCO and Allianz Global Investors, earns management and performance fees on assets managed for third parties globally. The Group also generates income from proprietary investment portfolios, strategic equity holdings, and distributions from minority interests in financial services entities such as Viridium and Sconset Re.

Management commentary on the 2026-Q2 results (IR-Quarter, 2026-08-07):
„In the first half of the year, we delivered an excellent result and continued our strong performance in the second quarter. The operating results of all business segments are above the midpoints of their respective full-year targets. This demonstrates the successful execution of our strategic priorities, and we are on track to achieve our 2026 objectives. At the halfway point of our strategy cycle, the results confirm that we are on course to meet our ambitious Capital Markets Day targets. Looking ahead, we continue to focus on intelligent growth, higher productivity, and even greater resilience. In this way, we create sustainable value for our customers and shareholders.“ – Claire-Marie Coste-Lepoutre, Finanzvorständin der Allianz SE 36 (translation – original on hover)
„Allianz once again delivered strong results in the second quarter and first half of 2026. This underscores the success of our customer-oriented strategy. Our outstanding performance gives us both the opportunity and the responsibility to make first-class advisory services, protection, and retirement solutions accessible to even more customers worldwide. The cost of insurance coverage is rising faster than disposable income. We are rising to this challenge. We are investing in artificial intelligence, risk prevention, and smarter solutions. In doing so, we aim to enable more people to protect what matters to them - at a price they can afford. This is how the trust that defines Allianz is built - and what drives our growth.“ – Oliver Bäte, Vorstandsvorsitzender der Allianz SE 36 (translation – original on hover)

Insurance-specific risk factors include adverse movements in mortality and morbidity rates, increases in borrower default rates, and potential changes to regulatory or tax legislation 36.

Revenue by Type (as of 2026-Q2 · EURm · 34/80)#

Revenue split by segment or product type, exactly as the company itself reports it. The basis is stated next to each value (3, 6 or 12 months); segment totals can deviate from group revenue (reconciliation/consolidation items). If the company changes its segment structure, older structures are kept in the expandable part. Rows in grey are no longer reported separately by the company; they show the last available figures and are never extrapolated.

Reported KPIs (as disclosed) (973)#

Figures the company discloses itself in addition to the standard financials; order intake, recurring revenue, user or unit counts, adjusted measures. These “story KPIs” usually slip through standard databases; here they are collected as reported, with no calculation of our own. Company-specific KPIs verbatim from the filings (English, as disclosed; not normalised). Balance-sheet and boilerplate items filtered.

Development#

A condensed summary per reporting period as running text: what changed operationally, which drivers management names, how earnings and cash flow developed. Most recent period first, grouped by year; each text is written from the original report of that period, superscript numbers lead to the source.

FY2026

Allianz SE reported operating profit growth of 8.6% to €9,390 million in the first half of fiscal year 2026, with total revenues rising to €58,751 million from €55,282 million in H1 2025 31. Net income increased to €6,630 million in H1 2026 from €5,599 million in H1 2025, with Q1 2026 contributing 3,690 million and Q2 2026 contributing 2,940 million 31. The Solvency II capitalization ratio strengthened to 225% by end of June 2026 from 218% at year-end 2025, and the Property-Casualty combined ratio for H1 2026 came in at 91.4%, below the full-year guidance range of 92-93% 31 36. Allianz completed the divestiture of its 26% stake in Indian joint ventures BAGIC and BALIC for approximately €2.3 billion and announced agreements to acquire HSBC Life Singapore for a €2.0 billion combined consideration and UOB Asset Management to expand its Asia Pacific presence 31.

FY2025

Allianz Group grew total business volume by 8.1% on an internal basis to EUR 186.9 billion in FY 2025, with all three business segments contributing to the gain 27. Operating profit increased 8.4% to EUR 17,374 million, exceeding the initial full-year target of EUR 16.0 billion plus or minus EUR 1.0 billion 26. Group net income reached 11,430 million, with diluted earnings per share of 27.67, and operating cash flow was 33,209 million 28. The Property-Casualty combined ratio improved to 92.2% from 93.4%, the Solvency II capitalization ratio rose by ten percentage points to 218%, and Asset Management third-party assets under management reached an all-time high of EUR 1,990 billion on net inflows of EUR 139.3 billion 28.

FY2024

Allianz SE grew insurance revenue to 97,675 million in FY2024, with full-year net income rising to 10,540 million, an increase of 16% versus the prior year 15. Operating profit advanced 9% to €16,023 million, exceeding the full-year target of €14.8 billion and marking a record across all three segments – Property-Casualty, Life/Health, and Asset Management 15. Total business volume expanded 11.2% to €179,778 million on internal revenue growth of 11.9%, with the Solvency II capitalization ratio improving to 209% at year-end 15. Operating cash flow reached 31,903 million, and cash and cash equivalents stood at 31,637 million as of 31 December 2024 15. Material portfolio actions during the year included the acquisition of TUA Assicurazioni S.p.A. in Italy and the divestiture of stakes in Allianz Saudi Fransi and Euler Hermes Re S.A. 15.

FY2023

Allianz Group delivered a record operating profit of €14.7 billion in FY2023, up 6.7% from 2022, driven by growth across the Property-Casualty, Life/Health, and Corporate segments, though the third quarter was weighed down by exceptionally high natural catastrophe claims 7 61. Net income attributable to shareholders rose to 9,032 million for the full year, with the improvement partly reflecting higher operating profit, lower income taxes, and the absence of a large Structured Alpha litigation provision that had reduced 2022 net income 7. Insurance revenue grew 4.9% to €91.3 billion, supported by internal business volume growth of 8.0%, while operating cash flow reached 24,462 million 60 7. The Solvency II capitalization ratio improved to 206% at year-end 2023 from 201% at end-2022, and shareholders' equity rose to €58.5 billion 7 58. Core return on equity advanced to 16.0% from 12.7% in 2022, and Allianz completed a €1.5 billion share buyback while raising the proposed dividend by 21.1% to €13.80 per share 61 58.

Glossary#

  • Revenue: Revenue from contracts with customers, net of sales deductions, as the company itself reports it; not total output, gross revenue, GMV or order intake.
  • Net income: Net income attributable to the shareholders of the parent, after discontinued operations; not the result including minority interests, not comprehensive income.
  • EPS: Diluted earnings per share attributable to the shareholders of the parent; a printed figure always beats a calculated one, calculated values are marked.
  • EPS adj.: Adjusted earnings per share, verbatim and company-defined (non-GAAP).
  • OCF: Cash flow from operating activities as reported; IFRS companies may show interest paid in financing cash flow, so the figure is not always comparable.
  • Cash: Cash and cash equivalents, without securities unless the company reports them as part of the position.
  • *: derived, the formula is in the hover
  • ≈: calculated, approximation
  • ~: uncertain; the value stays visible, verdicts do not use it
  • °: repaired by a targeted query against the document, or curated with documentary evidence
  • EBIT: EBIT as a fallback: the income statement carries no operating line
  • basic: basic earnings per share as a fallback when diluted is missing
