Business Model#

What the company does and how it earns its money; written AI-editorially, exclusively from the company's original reports, without any assessment of our own.

Nordex SE is a Hamburg-based manufacturer of onshore wind turbines that designs, produces, installs, and services wind energy systems for project developers and independent power producers worldwide. The company reports through two segments: Projects, covering turbine supply, engineering, and construction services for wind farms; and Service, providing long-term operation and maintenance contracts for installed turbine fleets. Projects revenue is recognized based on construction completion milestones, producing lumpy revenue patterns, while the Service segment delivers more recurring income streams from multi-year maintenance agreements. Nordex's business model is characterized by structurally negative working capital, as customers provide prepayments secured by bank guarantees ahead of turbine delivery, reducing external working capital financing needs. The company operates manufacturing and assembly facilities across Europe and serves markets in Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia, with commercial momentum tracked primarily through order intake and the combined backlog of both segments.

The Group maintained a net cash balance throughout H1 2026, carrying no net financial debt at the close of the reporting period 15.
Recurring

The Service segment order book grew 24.4% to EUR 6,807.1 million in H1 2026, reflecting an expansion of contracted maintenance coverage across the installed base 15.
Management view
Order intake in the Projects segment grew 9.6% to EUR 4,683.1 million in H1 2026, with majority demand concentrated in 6 and 7 MW turbine classes 15. Change

Turbine installations in H1 2026 decreased to 438 units (2,323 MW) from 517 units (3,004 MW) in the prior-year period, attributed to back-end loaded project schedules and customer delays 15.
Risks (current)
Company-specific risks include structurally negative working capital requiring bank guarantees for customer prepayments, warranty and product liability claims from turbine technical risks and performance guarantees, and IAS 29 hyperinflation accounting adjustments affecting the Turkish subsidiary 15 13. Contingent liabilities from pending litigation in connection with the operating business remain present, and the ongoing war in Ukraine is cited as an obstacle to strong global economic recovery 11 13. Macro-level risks include US tariff policy and trade tensions threatening supply chains and market access, exchange rate volatility particularly from US dollar pressure, and geopolitical uncertainty stemming from US-Iran escalation 15.
New this reporting period
In July 2026, Nordex completed the sale-and-leaseback of its Rostock blade production facility, generating a gain of EUR 9.1 million; management had committed to a disposal plan in May 2026 when it approved the sale of the former rotor blade production premises 15. Also in July 2026, the Group entered into a new ESG-linked revolving multicurrency guarantee facility with an initial commitment of EUR 2,475,000 thousand and a five-year tenor, intended to further diversify its bond capacity 15. Both transactions occurred after the H1 2026 balance sheet date and were disclosed as subsequent events in the H1 2026 interim report 15.

Balance Sheet & Cash Flow (€m)#

Point-in-time balance sheet items (e.g. cash, financial debt) and cash flow items (operating cash flow, investments/capex) per fiscal year, half-year and quarter. Balance sheet values are as of the period end, flow items cover the period. Derived values are marked and are calculated, for example, as: net debt = financial debt − cash; free cash flow = operating cash flow − capex; the click popover shows formula and inputs. All values are extracted automatically from the filings; errors are possible; please verify decision-relevant figures yourself by clicking through to the linked original.

Revenue by Type (as of 2026-Q2 · EURm · 2/6)#

Revenue split by segment or product type, exactly as the company itself reports it. The basis is stated next to each value (3, 6 or 12 months); segment totals can deviate from group revenue (reconciliation/consolidation items). If the company changes its segment structure, older structures are kept in the expandable part. Rows in grey are no longer reported separately by the company; they show the last available figures and are never extrapolated.

Reported KPIs (as disclosed) (288)#

Figures the company discloses itself in addition to the standard financials; order intake, recurring revenue, user or unit counts, adjusted measures. These “story KPIs” usually slip through standard databases; here they are collected as reported, with no calculation of our own. Important: the definition comes from the company itself and can differ from firm to firm; period and source are stated next to every value.

Company-specific KPIs verbatim from the filings (English, as disclosed; not normalised). Balance-sheet and boilerplate items filtered.
